Route to PorlezzaFiat route

The route to Porlezza can be easily managed in one day by car, calculated from Utrecht (NL) it is only 950 km. But you can also take the train to Lugano or get a plain to Milan and be there in 1,5 hrs! You can enter your address on the right to get a routedescription to Porlezza.

Route by car:

By car from Utrecht (NL) it is a mere 950 km’s. Enter the address on the right in your TomTom or use the route app to obtain a roadmap. From Utrecht you will have to drive thru Germany and Switzerland before you reach Italy. You will need to get a toll ticket for Switzerland, these can be purchased for €40,- at the Dutch ANWB, or   You can also easily purchase the toll ticket at any Gasstation along the A5 to Basel, at a cost of CHF 40,-.

The route~is Oberhausen- Köln – Frankfurt – Basel – Luzern – Gotthard – Lugano – Gandria – Porlezza

Gotthard pasAs you may know, the Gotthard tunnel is still one tube. Plans are made to finish the second tube, by 2030! Henceforth there are going to be conjunctions or even roadblocks in 2016 and onwards. Here you will find the dates when the tunnel might be obstructed or even closed. Should it be closed, you will have to take the route via San Bernardino (follow Zürich-San Bernardino instead of Luzern). A beautiful route thru and over the Alps.

Route by train:train route

If you want to start your holiday to Porlezza in a relaxed way, you might want to consider taking the international train to Lugano. From Arnheim (NL) you can reach Lugano city in about 11 hrs and get a bus from there to Porlezza.

Route by air:airplane route

The fastest way into Porlezza is of course by airoplane. Your destination will be one of the three airports of Milan. The cheapest flights are from Airport Weeze-Düsseldorf (Germany), right at the Dutch border. Check out Easyjet as well for they have very good offers on last minutes flights. Upon arrival at Milano you can either catch a train into Lugano city or rent a car. It is usually best to book a car online when you book the flight.
